A 400 Level LAUTECH Student, Praise Ogunleke, bags Diana Award
Praise Ogunleke, a 400-level Medicine and Surgery student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has bagged the prestigious Diana Award. He is one of the 22 recipients from Nigeria this year 2024, out of about 200 recipients worldwide.
During an interview with Praise, he shared how his journey in LAUTECH began and how he never wanted to attend LAUTECH, having always dreamed of studying at the University of Ibadan. However, his perspective changed after attending a NIFES-organized program featuring Mr. Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, a LAUTECH alumnus. Praise was captivated by the speaker's intelligence and composure, and he was stunned to learn that he had graduated from LAUTECH.
“That moment gave my perspective an overhaul. He became a model of who I aspired to be — someone who was facilitating the transformation of others”
Praise credits LAUTECH with teaching him resilience and the importance of community. He advises students to understand their identity and purpose, prioritize building genuine relationships, and cherish the journey.
"Understanding your identity and purpose is critical," Praise says. "You can only discover your identity and purpose through one source: God. Take up leadership roles, meet people, travel, and immerse yourself in books. Prioritize building genuine relationships and contributing to the growth of others."
Praise's achievement serves as an inspiration to young people everywhere, reminding them that they too can make a difference in their communities and beyond.
