How To Deal With distraction during classes
In this digital age, it is often becoming very hard to live a focused life at every point in time. You can be focused at this moment. And the next moment you are battling with the views of the American movie series you saw last night. As if that's not enough, social media beckons and notifications won't stop flooding our phone, many distractions!
My friend once told me I easily get into this distraction tactics because I sits at the back. Then I started a new life and I began to sit right at the front of my lecturer with my phone placed in my tote bag but I won't stop rating the professor's outfit. I believed a female professor's heels should cost over a hundred thousand.
Everything turned sour and embarrassing when she pointed at my direction and asked a question. My response was totally unrelated to what she had asked. How could I have given the right response when I was being inattentive? I felt so embarrassed.
But, I have learnt to keep in check the reason I attend classes and instead of thinking this class is boring, I try thinking 'i'm getting a valuable education’. I call this strategy reframing my thoughts afterall I am in charge of my thoughts.
In a similar vein, feed well. Stomach contractions during class is a great distraction. Can you imagine your stomach growling louder than the lecturer's voice? I am also sure don't want to eat your manuals.
